BIR reshuffles 4,000 collectors
Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim S. Jacinto-Henares on Tuesday started the nationwide reshuffle of the 4,000 tax examiners and collectors.
The initial batch composed of 57 based in Northern Luzon were the first to go.
Majority of the fieldmen have overstayed in their current assignments for more than three years.
Others were facing probe for allegedly committing serious offenses like extortion and harassment.
They were transferred from one province to another within the Revenue Region No. 1 based in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
More revenue officers in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are also expected to be moved within the next few months, sources said.
Under Section 17 of the Tax Code “internal revenue officer assigned to perform assessment or collection function shall not remain in the same assignment for more than three years.
