‘Caloy’ strands over 1,700 passengers

Over a thousand passengers have been reported stranded due to tropical depression “Caloy”.

According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), a total of 1,781 passengers are currently stranded in various ports in the
country.

There are also 83 rolling cargoes, 25 vessels and nine motor bancas affected by “Caloy”.

The Coast Guard District Central Visayas said 1,321 passengers are stranded in the port of Cebu, 209 in Tagbilaran, 251 in Dumaguete.

PCG officials said the agency is on heightened alert to respond to any emergency situation. (Jenny Manongdo)
