Davao City commemorates 2003 port bombing
DAVAO CITY – The local government here commemorated the 11th year anniversary of the 2003 Sasa port bombing which left 17 dead and 56 people injured.
Acting Mayor Paolo Duterte revealed that the relatives of the victims of the bombing received educational assistance and that 18 out of the 67 beneficiaries have already graduated from college.
“They are heroes of the city because we became vigilant when that happened. It opened an avenue for us to ask the people responsible to not do it again here and it prompted the creation of the Task Force Davao,” he said.
“The budget for the educational assistance has already reached over P4 million and another P4 million for the victims of the bombing in the airport. This has been continuing under the support of my father,” Duterte said.
