DFA: 5,212 Filipinos repatriated from Syria
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Friday that the total number of Filipinos repatriated from Syria has already reached 5,212.
DFA said that 2,185 Filipinos were repatriated via Lebanon through the assistance of the Philippine Embassy in Beirut.
The latest is the 38 Filipinos who arrived in Manila Friday afternoon on board Emirates Airlines flight EK 332.
In a related development, the DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Damascus recently met anew with the Filipino community in Syria on February 9 to remind them of the Philippine government’s Mandatory Repatriation Program (MRP).
It also sought their help in informing other Filipinos in Syria, especially those in the Damascus area.
The DFA said it continues to appeal to all Filipinos who are still in Syria to seek immediate repatriation. (Roy Mabasa)
