DILG rewards 2 Bataan barangays with P600,000
Limay, Bataan — Two barangays in this province were chosen as the Best “Lupong Tagapamayapa” in the country and will receive P300,000 cash award each, a top official of the Department of Interior and Local Government said (DILG).
DILG Regional Director Florida Dijan said Barangay Cataning, Balanga City and Barangay Kitang II/ Luz in Limay bagged the 2013 national award.
Barangay Cataning won under the component city category while Kitang II won under the 1st to 3rd class municipality category.
Barangay Captain Oscar “Boy” Peralta of Kitang II/Luz said this will further inspire them to serve and effectively settle disputes amicably.
Barangay Captain Ramiro “Ming” Tigas of Cataning was happy of the information considering that this is the second time they are winning the award.
Aside from the two, East Bajac-Bajac in Olongapo City was also adjudged first runner up in the highly urbanized city category.
The Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Award is designed by the DILG recognizing Lupons who excel in the implementation of the Katarungang Pambarangay Law – an effective avenue to resolve conflicts in the family and in the community without going to the courts.
In 2012, the two barangays also won the same award together with Barangay Tuyo in Balanga City which got the National Hall of Fame for three consecutive win.
