Filipina Rose Fontanes snags Top 12 spot on ‘X Factor Israel’
The journey of Filipina migrant worker Rose “Osang” Fontanes on “X Factor Israel” continues as she enters the Top 12.
Hailing from Taguig City but currently based in Tel Aviv, Fontanes was brought to tears after hearing the good news, knowing that her mentor Shiri Maimon didn’t like her recent rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Without You.”
“You’re performance was a bit predictable. I felt disappointment,” said the Israeli pop/R&B artist. She maintained, however, that the 46-year-old Filipina is an “amazing” enough singer to enter the next round.
Fontanes expressed her elation for another “chance to shine.” She deemed her qualification a life-changing moment.
“I want it really badly because I’ve been working whole my life as a metapelet and I lock my childhood dream away. Maybe this is the only way that I can change my profession from metapelet to singer,” she surmised on VTR.
Members of the Filipino community in Israel have united to show their unwavering support for their kababayan.
On Fontanes’ Facebook fan page, supporters vow to watch the next live show wearing a fan shirt.
“Sometimes really, I can’t believe it. All my life, nobody believe in me and here suddenly everybody see me and love me. Maybe this is my chance. God will tell ‘Okay, before you was in a sad story, now I will give you a happy ending,’” Fontanes said.
