Filipino repatriates from Syria reach 5,361
The number of Filipinos who were repatriated from war-torn Syria has reached 5,361.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), 25 Filipino repatriates are scheduled to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on board Emirates Airlines EK 332 Thursday afternoon.
The airline tickets of this batch of repatriates were provided by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Damascus.
The DFA said of the total number of Filipinos who were repatriated from the troubled country, 2,332 were brought home through Lebanon, with the cooperation, assistance, and support of the Philippine Embassy in Beirut.
The Philippine Embassy in Damascus, meanwhile, continues to remind the Filipino community in Syria to avail of the Philippine government’s Mandatory Repatriation Program (MRP).
