INDIAN BLACK PEPPER IN TERESA — A group of agriculturists and farmers from Samar and Leyte made a farm tour of the orchard and nursery in Teresa, Rizal recently. The group was headed by Jose Jimmy Palma who is also in charge of the fruit tree farm in Abuyog, Leyte. Here, some members of the group are taking a good look at the fruiting Paniyur black pepper grown on a mahogany tree. The Paniyur variety produces long fruit spikes and usually yields two times that of the ordinary black pepper variety. Planting materials will be available at the Agrilink trade show on October 10-12 at the World Trade Center-Manila.
