Girl Scouts lauded for their good values
DINGLE, Iloilo — Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. of Iloilo province lauded the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) for instilling good values.
“The girl scout movement has been very supportive in the campaign of inculcating proper values to our youth,” Defensor said at the opening of the 38th encampment of GSP-Iloilo Council at Camp Pasica in Dingle, Iloilo last September 19.
Defensor reiterated that an incorruptible youth is one of the key ingredients in bringing sincere change to the country. The Girl Scouts of the Philippines teaches its members the values of honesty, discipline and self-reliance.
“My generation had lost its chance to introduce meaningful reform to our country, but they may be our only hope,” Defensor said.
Iloilo has provided a total of P1.2 million in financial aid to the GSP-Iloilo Council for the past two years. The money went for the improvement of the group’s administration building at its 13-hectare campsite.
More than 2,000 girl scouts from Iloilo province, Iloilo City and Guimaras province attended the annual camping activity that ended last September 22.
