Philippine Food Expo 2004

TODAY, one is impressed by the array of many native-made products sold abroad and locally, competing with imported ones. Bottled or canned “bagoong,’’ “laing,’’ “kare-kare,’’ “sisig,’’ “sardinas,’’ and “adobo’’ are now well-patronized not only by our countrymen but by foreigners, too, who are delighted by our food products.

All these are the beneficial results of the active partnership between the Department of Trade and Industry and our food producers and manufacturers. Through their efforts, trade fairs and food expos were regularly held, thereby showcasing locally made food and food products. The Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization (Philfoodex) is in the forefront of these endeavors.

From January 28 to February 1, 2004, Philfoodex will hold its Third Philippine Food Expo at the SM Mega Trade Hall in Mandaluyong City. As in previous years, this expo will be a one-stop food fair showcasing native and regional delicacies, fresh and processed fruits, fresh and processed meat and seafood products, snack foods, condiments and sauces, bakery products, and ethnic foods for export.

This trade and food expo will bring to the awareness of our countrymen and foreigners alike the variety and richness of our country’s food resources and the many business opportunities that can be derived from them. Food and trade expositions will also promote foreign investment, generate jobs, and diversify our people’s economic activities.

We congratulate the participants and organizers of the Third Philippine Food Expo and wish them success.
