And unlike other presidential candidates, Lacson will not be doing the traditional style of campaigning such as bringing along popular actors and actresses to woo the Filipino electorate.
Instead, Lacson will stick to his campaign strategy of going around the provinces through well-organized motorcades and whistlestops in every major town to discuss his platform.
Lacson, who is now on the second leg of his nationwide campaign, arrived at the Davao City International Airport at 12 noon yesterday and proceed to the Mandaya Hotel with LDP senatorial candidate Carlos Padilla for a brief press conference with both local and national media.
Lacson had a luncheon meeting with local leaders of the Ping for President Movement (PPM) at the hotel at 12:30 p.m. He had a motorcade around the city accompanied by his supporters and local volunteers. The motorcade covered San Pedro, C.M. Recto, Ponciano, Ungayen, Monteverde, and Agdao.
Today, Thursday, Lacson will have a motorcade through the towns of Patina, Bangkul, Ulas, and Dumoy leading to Digos, Davao del Sur.
Lacson will attend the founding anniversary of Kidapawan City as guest speaker and will hit the road again to meet with local chapter leaders and members of the Youth for Ping Lacson Movement.
Rounding up Lacson’s Davao sortie will be another motorcade that would cover the towns of Nabunturan, Tagum, and Mati in Davao Oriental on Friday.
From Mindanao, Lacson will fire up his campaign in the Western Visayas via a caravan which will start in Bacolod City on Feb. 17, going towards San Carlos City before dissecting through Calatrava, Escalante City, Sagay City, Cadiz City, Silay City, and Talisay City before going back to Bacolod City. DAVAO CITY — Showing the same level of support during the 2001 senatorial elections, the people of Davao once again proved to Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) presidential candidate Panfilo M. Lacson that he has a place in the hearts of Davaoeños.
Such show of support was made visible when loyal supporters and volunteers from the local chapter of the Ping for President Movement (PPM) and the Youth for Ping Lacson Movement (YPL) met Lacson and his entourage at the Davao City International Airport.
"Davao is one of the regions na mataas yung nakuha kong boto nuong 2001 elections, ‘yung core support ay nanduon pa rin," Lacson added.
Lacson said he admires Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for his no non-sense style of leadership.
He said that he does not see the need to employ known showbusiness personalities during the campaign and instead he will use "unconventional" campaign methods.
"Instead of traditional big rallies, you gather your supporters, you mobilize your crowd, you preach to your supporters," Lacson said.
Today, Lacson and his group of supporters will have another motorcade starting from the PTA grounds towards Matina, Bangkal, Ulas, Dumoy, Toril, Lizada, Sariwan, Inawayan, and Darong.
Local organizers of the Ping for President Movement expect that the number of vehicles that will participate in today’s motorcade will double compared to yesterday. (Gil M. Abarico)
