BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Local officials here led by Mayor Abet S. Garcia have started to upgrade the Roman Expressway to make it safer for motorists, particularly at night.
Mayor Garcia said, "we have already started the asphalt overlay on the four-lane road at the Abucay-Balanga boundary with the marking of lines to make the road lanes more visible and safe at night."
Garcia is running for congressman in Bataan’s second district in a bid to replace his father, Enrique "Tet" Garcia, who is now on his third and last term as congressman and who is running for governor.
Mayor Garcia said that a beautiful welcome arch is also being constructed at the boundary.
With the help of his father, the young Garcia said, the city can complete the asphalt overlay on the Roman highway from Abucay to Pilar, noting that funds for the project are already made available upon their initiatives.
Aside from the asphalt overlay, the mayor said, the Balanga stretch of the Roman highway will also be lighted to make it safer for motorists.
Garcia said that he had already made an arrangement with the Peninsula Electric Cooperative through Engineer Loreto Marcelino, general manager, for the lighting of the expressway. (Mar Supnad)
