Broadcaster slain in QC

A polio victim broadcaster from a local AM station was found dead with stab wounds in the body Sunday night inside his rented condominium unit in Quezon City.

The Central Police District Office – Criminal Investigation Unit (CPDO-CIU) identified the victim as William Castro, alias "Kontak" 42, of 841 Phase II, Building 8, Sikatuna Bliss, Barangay Sikatuna, Quezon City.

Castro is reportedly a gay broadcaster from DZUP.

Initial investigation showed that Jasper Manlapas, a boardmate of the victim, had just arrived from a weekend vacation at around 9 p.m. Sunday when he noticed bloodstains on the floor leading to the victim’s room.

Manlapas immediately sought help from their neighbors and other boardmates who ran to the place and forcibly opened the door of Castro’s room.

Police said Manlapas and others were stunned when they saw the body of Castro lying on a pool of blood.

Beks Panopio, pook coordinator in the area, then immediately called up the police to report the matter.

Castro’s body was brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) crime laboratory for autopsy.

A thorough investigation of the case is now being conducted by the CPDO.
