4 suspects linked to slaying of trader nabbed in Pasay City

Four men believed to be the suspects in the killing of a Chinese businessman barely three weeks ago were arrested while playing cards (pusoy) and used shabu as their bet money Sunday night in Pasay City.

Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, Pasay City police chief, identified the arrested suspects as Eduardo Mahusay, 34; Alfie Silvestre, 23; Ronaldo Silvestre, 37; Jack Mahusay, 32; all residents of Don Carlos Revilla St., Pasay City.

Reports showed that the suspects were arrested at about 10 p.m. Sunday at a house near 24 Interior Don Carlos St., Pasay City.

Prior to the suspects’ arrest, DEU operatives received information that the suspects were frequently seen playing cards in the area and used shabu as their bet money.

Franco said that a team composed of DEU operatives was formed and swooped down at the said gambling den where they later arrested the suspects.

Recovered from the suspects were 13 heat-seated plastic sachets containing shabu, P220 cash used for loose change on their bets and the playing cards they used.

During the investigation at the police station, Esperanza Chua, 38, 157 GP Cello St., Pasay City, who was with her husband, William, 47, positively identified the suspects as the persons who robbed them and shot dead her husband while they were walking along Cuneta St. in the city last March 18, this year.

Esperanza said Mahusay immediately grabbed their bags containing cash money and documents on board two unregistered motorcycles then fled.
