Presidential daughter cites role of the youth in the community

   

Presidential daughter Luli Macapagal-Arroyo has recently exhorted the youth to contribute positively for the progress of the community as she underscored the importance of education to uplift one's condition.

Speaking during the recent 29th Commencement Exercises of Sacred Heart Academy of Novaliches wherein some 600 students graduated from Elementary and High School, she pointed out that the power to make the country a better place to live in is in the hands of the youth.


 Stressing the value of education, she says poverty is not a hindrance if one will strive hard as exemplified by her late grandfather, President Diosdado Macapagal. Miss Arroyo's inspiring speech was well applauded. She won the admiration of the audience because of her simplicity, straightfordwardness, and sincerity.


 Sacred Heart Academy of Novaliches was established in February 1970, through the inspiration of Luisa Keirulf. Starting as a Kindergarten school for some 50 students Mr. and Mrs. Enrique  Zabarte gradually wove it to be one of the most established institutions in Novaliches.


 After the talk she awarded two of the graduating honor students, Maxine Ylyana Montenegro, class Valedictorian and Liezel Cacafranca, 1st honorable mention, the GMA Presidential Leadership Award, in recognition of their leadership and academic excellence.


 The school year 2003-2004 has been a blissful year to SHAN as it boats of the following achievements:
 Dominador Catorce, 2nd year emerged equal with La Salle's 3rd year representative in the highly rated LG Quiz.


 Kevin Tegelan, 3rd year student, 2nd place in the Division Level of the Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) competition sponsored by Metrobank.


 Second place MTAP competition, group category, (High School Level)
 Finalist in the Division Level of the MTAP competition (Elementary Level).
 Krizel Anne B. Fababaer, grade 6, 3rd place in the stage 2 category in A.L.O.H.A. Mental Arithmetic Phils., Inc., ''Math Challenge 2003.”


 Dianne M. Lu bagged 2 silver medals in the swimming competition by Athletic Association of Private Schools (AAPS)
 Victoria Llapitan, silver medal in the Junior Women Novice Division (heavy weight) 2003 New Face of the Year Taekwondo Championships; Bronze medal in Junior Women Novice Division (heavyweight) 1st Fr. Bellarmine Taekwondo Championships.


 Fe Marie Ann Pera, bronze medal in Junior Women Novice division (Welterweight) 1st Fr. Bellarmine Taekwondo Championships; bronze medal (welterweight) 9th Petron All Women Taekwondo Championships.


 SHAN sees to it that students will develop holistically hence it offers the following special classes; Taekwondo classes with affiliation from the Philippine Taekwondo Association; for the musically inclined, the school holds
