Just in case anyone is under the impression that our Challengers will be having an easy time in this Makeover, they’re very much mistaken. They will be working extremely hard, not just to meet their health and fitness goals but to achieve it in a pre-set amount of time, while under the scrutiny of the nation. They will also be competing against each other for the special bonus prize which will be awarded at the end of the competition to the Challenger who has shown the most improvement. Talk about pressure! This is why it is so fitting that the official apparel for the Makeover Challenge is Adidas, which is also the Official Supporter of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
Under the agreement with the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games, Adidas will supply uniforms for all the Athens 2004 workforce of staff, volunteers, and Technical Officials of the Athens 2004 and Paralympic Games. Adidas also produced all uniforms for the Olympic Torch Relay.
Adidas has already secured its position as one of the leading brands at the Olympic Games since it is the official outfitter of 21 National Olympic Committees, including Greece, the host nation, and also the USA, Germany, Great Britain, France and Cuba. In total, more than 4,000 athletes will compete wearing the three stripes. Also, Adidas will provide products for 26 out of the 28 Olympic sports including the Official Game Balls for the Football and Handball Tournament.
Adidas’ Olympic tradition goes back to 1928, when Adidas founder Adi Dassler produced the first pair of sprint spikes for an Olympic athlete to compete in Amsterdam. Ever since, the history of Adidas and the Olympic Games has been closely linked. Olympic greats such as Jesse Owens, Emil Zatopek, Wilma Rudolph, Bob Beamon, Dick Fosbury, Nadia Comaneci and Haile Gebrselassie marked milestones in athletic achievement in Adidas products. The Games of the XXVIII Olympiad will once again be worldwide visible proof of our dedication to athletes, products, innovation and leadership."
Those thousands of athletes will be competing and performing in one of the very latest lines of Adidas shoes and apparel, titled ClimaCool. ClimaCool is a superior moisture management technology, designed to regulate skin temperature, improve the flow of air and dry the body faster. ClimaCool is proven to reduce skin temperature and heart rate during exercise.
ClimaCool is softer than cotton and resists pilling better than other natural and synthetic fibers. The way it works is that the shape and placement of ClimaCool fibers help move moisture quickly to the outer surface, where it evaporates away from the body for superior dryness and comfort in critical heat zones.
Adidas has a long history of challenging the impossible. Adidas calls it “Impossible is Nothing” and this is an attitude that they share with athletes around the world - the desire to push yourself further, to surpass limits. This is exactly what our Makeover Challenge is all about, and Adidas supports the Challengers in their efforts to take risks and set new records for themselves. Our male and female Challengers will be outfitted by Adidas with a pair of lightweight training pants, workout shirt, cap and training duffel bag, socks and a pair of workout shoes. Runners-up will also receive Adidas workout shirts.
As an athlete you always strive to reach new heights, break new ground. So does Adidas as a brand, to achieve their mission to be the leading sports brand in the world.
