Awakening the entrepreneurial spirit

Every now and then you fmd yourself asking the question: “Ano kayang negosyo ang magandang simulan ngayon?” (What kind of business can I start today?). It may be a fl eeting or long-standing question you have been asking yourself for weeks, months, even years. You are not alone.

Everyone has an entrepreneurial spirit. For some, it is a distant, faded voice. For others, it is as loud as the exhaust of a 747 aircraft. Whatever volume it is now for you, rest assured it is there.

You are where you are because you have made the right decisions and have maneuvered your career quite well. However, you may have realized that your job may not always be there for you. When and if that time comes, you will have nothing else to fall back on except for your entrepreneurial spirit, and how ready it is to carry you through these tough times. Wouldn’t it be a prudent move then to start discovering that voice inside you again as early as now?

Starting a business whether big or small is just one of the many ways to awaken that spirit again and may give you a more credible answer to the queries above. You can. also look at investing in stocks, bonds, real-estate, franchises, or other income producing activities. Whatever your inclination is, you must understand and realize that there are a lot of differences between working a job compared to starting and managing a business.

A lot of times people quit their jobs to start a business on a whim only to realize that they have no idea of what they got themselves into. On the other end of the spectrum, there are people who just keep analyzing and never get to do anything because offear of failing in business. Ultimately, the best teacher is real-life. But if you are not prepared for it, you can fi nd that real-life education can be harsh, expensive, and very humbling.
