Munti slates market fairs to promote people’s products

Recognizing the concerns of the small entrepreneurs on how to effectively promote their products, the city government of Muntinlupa has developed avenues such as bazaars and the like to help their products move faster and create better market for them.

The city’s Department of Agriculture and Tourism Office will hold market fair on Sunday, Aug. 8 in barangay Sucat in time for its fiesta celebration as well as to endorse the small clients’ home-made items in a wider scale and to proper audiences.

Organizers said the market fairs will be held every fiesta time of each barangay to capture the opportunity of introducing the products before an expected large crowd.

Aside from the fiesta fairs, the city aims to hold a food festival in relation to the observance of World Food Day in October, livelihood bazaars during the city’s charter day, and a home management day.

It also looks into creating a trading center within the city hall where products of the clients will be polled every day. Another project is the putting up of promotional products center within the Alabang Public Market to push one product per barangay and organize a weekly market exhibition day at the Festival Mall.

The city also hopes to patronize the products of the clients through ordering from them everytime there is an activity at the city hall.

DA officials said they are the ones who teach these small investors how to make a competitive product that is worth for export. The transfer of technology is being done through skills training and lecture demonstrations. The clients then indulge into different income generating projects depending on their tastes.
