Experts hold lecture on evidence-based orthodontics

Dr. Raymund Sugiyama, DDS, MS, and Dr. Kenneth Kai DDS, MS, will arrive in the country soon to speak on Evidence-Based Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery at the Makati Shangri-La and Mactan Shangri-La Island resort in Cebu City.

Sugiyama is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a professor of Clinical Orthodontics at Lorna Linda University in the United States for the last 28 years. He was president of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics in 1996, and is the only Asian to have been elected to a position with the ABO.

Sugiyama will lecture on Evidence-Based Asian Orthodontics and its impact on Asian patients. The lecture will explain why it is necessary to use the right set of brackets with torque and angulation values that are most appropriate for the Asian facial profile.

Kai is also a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of the Edward H. Angle Society. He is a board member of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics and a liaison to the AAO from California Association of Orthodontics.

In his lecture, Kai will highlight the importance of collaboration among the orthodontists and the oral maxillofacial surgeon to plan the best course of treatment for the surgical patient. He will be presenting unusually challenging cases that require special attention in treatment planning.

The lecture seminars are jointly sponsored by American Orthodontics and Dentistree. Registration information can be obtained from Jeriel Enriquez at Dentistree, through e-mail: info@dentistree.com or www.dentistree.com.
