DoTC: Report overcharging of FX taxis

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC) dispatched the other day operatives of the DoTC Action Center to go after drivers of FX taxis who charge their passengers more than the approved fare rates of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

DoTC Secretary Leandro Mendoza ordered the crackdown to protect the riding public from the illegal fare hikes which some FX taxi drivers allegedly started collecting this week.

"Any fare hike not approved by the LTFRB is illegal," he said. "The LTFRB and the Land Transportation Office, under the DoTC, have guidelines on what penalties await these violators."

Mendoza urged the public to report overcharging FX taxi drivers to the LTO, LTFRB, or the DoTC.

"Complaints can be coursed through our Action Center Hotline 7890 or sent through text messages to 2299.’’ (Anna Regidor)
