Food and Bliss at the Palms

Buffet country club-style is all the difference in buffet dining. The experience is so relaxing and unhurried. The place is luxuriously fabulous!

The Palms Country Club is a haven for families who would like to weekend in style. The club’s ambience will help you digest their sumptuous dishes at a very reasonable price of Php625+ (For members and their guests).

ANN: First time to eat buffet with our two girls minus the help. I reasoned that they have been trained to dine independently and have been taught table manners. This they practice at home and in restos. What I forgot was the nice view of the pool! They bargained to finish their carbonaras quickly so they can dive in. The place is kid-friendly, thus the Kid’s Menu. Your tots can choose from cheeseburgers, mini pizzas, spaghetti and their choice of fruit juice. They can color and draw on the kid’s place mat while you chat with your friends or family. But, better remember that the pool looks really inviting! I will get a table elsewhere if I were you.

OLIVER: I always liked the "Country Club Feel" especially on a weekend with the family. I told myself that this is going to be a lot different from the usual buffet reviews, because country club food is not usually that great but at Palms Country Club, their buffet is hotel standard.

A: With the girls settled, I went straight to the Barbecue Station. Can’t waste precious time! Here you will find the US Beef Rib Finger, the Salmon (with the delicious brown sugar and mustard glaze), Lemongrass and Curry Chicken Breast, Swordfish Rolls, Lamb Chops, and Potato Boats. I wanted to ask for a separate bowl of the brown sugar and mustard glaze. It will definitely go with the Roast US Prime Rib and the salmon. I can even spread it on top of my rice and solely eat that. I highly recommend it!

O: After having my tour around the buffet tables with the kids, I started off sharing some Chinese style sweet corn and chicken soup with the kids while having a sampler of the cold table items - Vietnamese vegetable spring rolls, Kilawin Tanigue, Deviled Eggs, Asparagus with mayo and of course Sushi, Sashimi and Maki. I loved the Deviled Eggs particularly with the taste of mustard and vinegar in the mixture.

A: I had some assorted sushi and sashimi to wipe away my guilt! They were fresh and Japanese enough. I had the Penne with Seafood Marinara Sauce which was truly awesome. It might sound plain and usual but this one is the best marinara sauce I have tried. My youngest daughter loved it! And, she’s a white sauce fan at that.

O: It was a US Beef feast for me! They boast of having good beef by offering all sorts of variations. On the carving table – Roast US prime rib with red wine gravy, Show cooking – Beef Salpicao, Barbecue Station – U.S. Beef Rib Finger and this is just to name a few.

A: Their hot dishes also featured some Asian plates like Chicken Wrapped in Pandan Leaves and Pork and Mushroom Stew. They also had the Seafood Vol Au Vent. At Php625, these make it all worth it.

O: I was compelled by my taste buds to have another round of my favorites like the Deviled Eggs, Vietnamese spring rolls and the deliciously deadly U.S. Beef Rib Fingers (I hope that one day they’ll come in a huge snack bag).

A: I should not forget to mention the Cold Station with around a dozen plates like the Italian Antipasto, Smorgasbord, Cold Meat, Gado Gado, Cheese, Curried Chicken, Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Kilawin Tanigue, Deviled Eggs, White Asparagus and more. They have the Salad Bar with assorted garden greens and the works!

A: Now, dessert is a different thing! Ice cream, cakes, pastries and fruits! A delight to everyone. Of course, being the good pregnant girl that I am, I had to get the fruits and just a bite of the chocolate cake! Yummy!

O: After all the meat and the kids dragging me to go swimming, I just had a scoop of ice cream and a sip from my coffee to end it. Amazingly, with the kids around, this meal is a success!

The Palms is our family’s dream hideaway! Clean pools and showers, kids’ station (where the kids can play, watch videos, and entertain themselves), smooth bowling alleys, badminton courts, basketball courts, good food, relaxing ambience… Not to forget the best country club buffet we have tried so far! The Palms get 5 cake slices (chocolate at that)!
