You rush through every customary morning ritual and are out the door in record time only to be caught in the clutches of particularly bad rush hour traffic. Every two-feet-slow-motion-creep of your car succeeds in nothing more than extinguishing any caffeine induced energy you had and giving your left calf muscle a real heavy work out.
Over an hour of soul sucking traffic finally finds you punching-in 30 minutes late, with the office receptionist shaking her head in disapproval as you burst out of the elevators drenched in perspiration and precipitation (don’t they have plans for a covered parking lot, for crying out loud!?)
You sit in your cubicle huffing and puffing, swamped with work, 15,000 emails that require your response, and a post-it from your boss assigning you yet another report that he was supposed to do. Just another "typical" day at the office.
Remember those good old college days, when you could miss a morning class to stay in bed, and later ask your teacher if you could sit in her afternoon class? Remember when you could choose your own skeds? I made sure my day began at 1:30pm everyday and no class on Thursdays because Wednesday nights were reserved for Steve Mills and Johnnie Verse at Paolo Trillo’s Pravda. We chose our teachers, too: "Yeah, pick Mrs. Santos, she never comes to class, or Mr. Cruz, he grades on a very sympathetic curve, or Ms. Suarez, she’s got a killer pair of legs." Too bad, we don’t have a similar autonomy with our bosses and work.
Of course, how can you not wax nostalgic about college without mentioning the women? With every semester a new batch of females entered the exhilarating university social scene, and every day was an adventure. Today, it’s only Sheila from client services department, and you only really notice her when you’ve had your fourth or fifth beer.
It is an unfortunate fact that once you enter the corporate world, your female options are no longer as extensive. University life provided a steady stream of freshmen giving much needed texture and variety to your daily experience. Today, nurturing your social life is an activity usually accomplished through going out. But where?
When in doubt, turn to Manila’s most enduring hotspot for the answer…
Last Wednesday was V-Bar’s Visa-V Ladies Night the Bayo Search Party, and the place was bustling with pretty college girls all glammed-up for the evening. Manolet Dario presided over the wheels of steel as Skyy served up a perpetual stream of free vodka mixers to ensure that all were in good spirits. Visa-V Ladies Night at V-Bar happens every Wednesday and something exciting has been scheduled every week to ensure that your once lost opportunities for expanding your female, as well as male universe can in fact be reclaimed.
Filipino Fashion Super Brand Bayo took charge of festivities, as it began its build up for the much-awaited first ever Bayo Fashion Show at the Glorietta Activity Center on October 6.
In line with Bayo’s aggressive and dynamic revitalization efforts, the brand now actively targets the fashionable youth market, and is currently in search of 25 college girls to take the ramp for the show. Two castings have already been held along with the party last week, and your last chance to be selected is tonight! Come to the final Bayo Search Party at Visa-V Ladies Night at V-Bar, and who knows? A girl like you just might be selected for the show!
There is nothing better than unwinding with a drink after a hard day’s work. Add to that great music, good ambience, and beautiful people, and you’ve got the perfect reason to be late for work tomorrow.
