Fr. Nicanor de la Rosa, CHED chairperson, said that of the 23 erring nursing institutions ordered closed down, seven are located in the National Capital Region (NCR), three in Cagayan Valley, three in Central Luzon, one in Southern Tagalog-B, one in Bicol, seven in Central Visayas, and two in Central Mindanao.
The CHED, in a statement, noted that the erring schools were not able to comply with the requirements of having a qualified dean of nursing, a CHED-compliant curriculum, a related-learning experience, and a base hospital.
Although the affected schools’ provisional permits which expired last September 30 were no longer renewed by CHED, the commission allowed the concerned institutions to operate until the end of school year 2004-2005 "to give opportunity to their students to transfer to other nursing schools."
The closed down nursing institutions were listed by CHED as follows:
Cagayan Valley — Cagayan College of Tuguegarao, Saint Louis University (Tuguegarao), and University of Perpetual Help (Isabela).
Central Luzon — Francisco Homes College, Softnet College, and Tomas del Rosario College.
Southern Tagalog-B — Saint Anthony College of Science and Technology (Calapan City).
Bicol — Dr. Carlos Lanting College.
Central Visayas — STI (Cebu), Asian College of Technology, BMC College, Colegio de San Antonio de Padua, College of Technological Science, Foundation University, and Salazar Institute of Technology.
Central Mindanao — Valdez Mother and Child City College.
NCR — STI (Cubao), STI (Global City in Fort Bonifacio), STI (Makati City), STI Muñoz, STI (Quezon Avenue), AMA (Makati City), and La Consolacion College (Caloocan City).
