Applying the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ syndrome, showbizness is often viewed as an overwhelming maze where everyone who cares to dip their toes in the water often gets lost – not entirely physically (although it’s possible) but emotionally, spiritually and yes, mentally as well. The whole glitz and glamour can get so confusing that players of their complicated game begin to question who they really are. They get so mixed up with the whole mess that spectators will never know whether they’re talking to a real person or a mere mask.

MTV added a whole new dimension to audiophiles. In 1977, Warner Amex Cable launched Sight On Sound, a music channel that featured concert footages and music- oriented programs where viewers could vote for their favorite songs and artists. The popularity of the channel prompted Warner Amex to market the channel nationally to other cable services. That happened in 1981, with the adoption of a music video format, and a name changed to "MTV - Music Television". This is an event that started a pop culture phenomenon. Aptly, the first music video shown on MTV was "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles.

It’s really not pushing to say that every parent only wants what’s best for his child. If possible, they’d probably hope that their kid would turn out into what we would call ‘real’ professionals – doctors, engineers, lawyers, y’know, those with “titles”. But for a child to refuse the stability of a practical job, and pursue a profession that most would probably give a hearty guffaw, may not entirely be sensible in normal standards, but admirable, nevertheless. Say for one Nelson ‘Rey’ Bohol, who saw the art of cartooning not as a waste of time or just a creative expression, but as a dream worthy to pursue.
