NAVOTAS — A house painter was stabbed dead by a neighbor when they crossed path on the bridge in Barangay Sipac Almacen.
Killed was Arturo Pasada, 42, of 288 Gov. Pascual Ave., Sipac. He died on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Police said the suspect Wilfredo Navarro, 44, a fish porter, of Tabing Ilog, also of Barangay Sipac. He escaped after the incident.
PO2 Dante Lalap Mahadas said the two persons engaged in a heated argument before they attacked each other.
Cooler heads prevailed but when they met again, the suspect attacked the victim with a knife.
Probers said the two were harboring grudge with each other. (Ed Mahilum)
Girl, 2, beaten
A two-year-old girl was allegedly beaten by her aunt for being noisy inside their house in San Miguel, Manila, Thursday night.
Police Officer 3 Dolores Villegas of WPD Women’s Desk, identified the victim as Ednalyn Rodriguez.
The suspect was identified as one Sonia Tolero, 20, of 239 Ligao St., San Miguel, Manila.
Villegas said Rodriguez was taken to the WPD headquarters on United Nations Avenue, Manila by Barangay 646 chairman Rey Floro and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman Rod Floro and SK councilor Mary Ann Agnas for proper disposition to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Floro said Rodriguez was placed under the care of Tolero because the little girl’s parents were separated.
But the little girl turned out to be too pesky for Tolero so she hit her, according to Floro. (Joel C. Atencio)
1 dies in Taguig violence
A businessman engaged in computer rental was shot dead while two others were wounded when three armed men robbed a computer shop shortly after midnight yesterday in Taguig, Metro Manila.
Supt. Ramon Reyes Taguig police chief, identified the victim as Alexto Trocio, 25, of Negros Occidental, and a resident of 22 Quasay St., Zone 1, Signal Village, Taguig. He suffered bullet wounds in the body and died upon arrival at the Cruz-Rabe Hospital.
Wounded were Ryan Oscar Macatugal, 16, of 256 M. L. Quezon St., Hagonoy, Taguig; and Dionisia Trocio, 63.
Macatugal and Trocio were rushed to the Rizal Medical Center and Medical City, respectively, where they were reported to be in critical condition due to the gunshot wounds. (James Catapusan)
3 minors rescued
Manila police rescued three teenaged girls in Apalit, Pampanga following reports that they were forced to work as guest relations officers (GROs) in a night club in the area.
Police Officer 3 Dolores Villegas of WPD Women’s Desk withheld the names of the three girls who are still minors.
Police identified the suspect as Ronalyn Roda. She is now detained at the WPD.
Villegas said the three girls wanted to work and decided to leave their house in Sampaloc with the help of their friend, Roda.
“And so, they were taken to Apalit by Roda to work as GROs. But the girls refused to go out with their customers for a date. One of them managed to call the police for help and here we are helping them,” Villegas said. (Joel C. Atencio)
Suspected pusher falls
MALABON CITY – A lady, suspected of drug pushing,was arrested Thursday afternoon while selling prohibited drugs to a poseur buyer in Barangay Tugatog, police said.
Chief Insp. Bernardino Cubacub, chief of the Malabon City police investigation division, said Rosario Francisco was arrested by the operatives at her residence at 31 P. Concepcion St., Tugatog, at about 1:40 p.m. by virtue of a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Emmanuel Laurea, of Branch 169 of the Malabon regional trial court (RTC).
Seized from her were three small pieces of transparent plastic sachets containing shabu weighing around three grams, police said. (Ed Mahilum)
