A security guard waiting for a ride home was killed when a wooden Meralco post accidentally fell on him yesterday morning in Parañaque City.
Supt. Ronald Estilles, Parañaque police chief, said Andrew Albino, 29, security guard of the Super Guard Security Agency detailed at the Circle Freight Forwarders and resident of Block 57, Lot 13, Phase 3, Sabalo St., Kaunlaran Village, Caloocan City, suffered broken bones and died upon arrival at the Olivarez General Hospital.
A report submitted by Inspector Santos Milla of the Parañaque Traffic Bureau showed that the accident happened at about 7:30 a.m yesterday along Ninoy Aquino Avenue corner Passcor Ext., Barangay Sto. Niño, Parañaque City.
Prior to the incident, a 10-wheeler trailer loaded with a container van and driven by Larry Hidalgo of Barangay Visco, Isayu, Tupaz, Taguig, was cruising along Ninoy Aquino Avenue when the edge of the container van accidentally hit the high-tension wire connected to the wooden Meralco post.
As a result, the wooden Meralco post gave way and collapsed on the victim who was waiting for a ride home.
Witnesses immediately brought the victim to a nearby hospital but it was already too late.
Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide will be filed against the suspect who is now temporarily detained at the Parañaque Traffic Management Unit. (James I. Catapusan)
