MAYOR ABRAHAM “Bambol” Tolentino will flag off beginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 12) more than 100 cyclists for the road and mountain bike races coinciding with Tagaytay City’s celebration of its Pista ng Pagibig.
National riders, among them Warren Davadilla, Arnel Quirimit and Santy Barnachea, will lead the field in the road race event that will virtually cover the route recommended for the 23rd Southeast Asian Games slated later this year.
Vietnam Sea Games gold medalist Eusebio Quionones and bronze medalist Frederick Feliciano are also expected at the mountain bike side of the cycling races that highlight sports activities – the others being a mini-marathon and boxing competition – accompanying the three-day Pista ng Pagibig.
Tolentino has become a staunch supporter of sports, and cycling and chess have become tops in his priorities in as much as playing satellite host to the Sea Games is concerned.
The road race, which will be supervised by the Philippine National Cycling Association, the same group that will conduct the Tour Pilipinas for the third straight year this summer, will start at the Tagaytay City Hall and finish at the People’s Park in the Sky.
