PABA seniors tilt all set

   

THE PHILIPPINE Amateur Baseball Association (PABA) Seniors tournament, now on its 16th year, opens shop Feb. 19 at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

PABA president Hector Navasero announced that seven teams have already confirmed their participation. These are the Laguna Lakers, Philab, Air Force, Navy, Lipa City, Army and Antipolo City.

Philippine Olympic Committee President Jose "Peping" Cojuangco has been invited as guest of honor and speaker during the opening ceremony.

Also invited are Philippine sports Commission Officer-In-Charge Butch Ramirez and members of his board of commissioners as well as head of the different national sports associations.

Tournament format calls for a one-round elimination with the teams garnering the best win-loss record stashing away with the championship, according to tournament director Ely Baradas.

The tournament forms part of the selection process for membership in the national team for the coming Southeast Asian Games.
