SAMSUNG SHOWCASES HSDPA DEMO IN THE U.S.

Samsung is showcasing the High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) demonstration in the U.S at the 2005 Cellular Telecommunication & Internet Association (CTIA) trade show, debuting the next step in the evolution of third generation technologies.

This new form of mobile broadband will be capable of transmitting data at speeds up to seven times faster than WCDMA systems.  When this technology is launched, users will be able to enjoy large-scale multimedia downloads, such as DVD-quality movies and interactive multimedia games, with high-speed wireless Internet access comparable to speeds seen with fixed-line ADSL services.  HSDPA technology also brings to users real-time streaming images of the person they are talking to – for true wireless videoconferencing.

Samsung was the world’s first manufacturer to develop a commercial-ready HSDPA handset. Also Samsung was the sole manufacturer to demonstrate HSDPA System and handset at CTIA.

“As an global telecommunications leader committed to developing wireless handsets that serve as the most advanced personal multimedia devices on the market, Samsung is proud be able to showcase HSDPA as the future of mobile broadband,” said Pete Skarzynski, senior vice president at Samsung.
