REP’s summer offering is a hilarious sitcom written by British playwright Ray Cooney called “Whose Wife Is It Anyway” which has been adapted to a Philippine setting.
This will be the first time that REP has adapted a play although it did a couple of translations in previous years.
The subject deals with a member of Congress whose over–active libido gets him into trouble…but not if his loyal secretary can help it.
He makes things more difficult for his secretary by weaving a net of outlandish fabrications that grow more and more implausible as the play goes on.
Directed by Rep’s artistic director Baby Barredo, the play stars Miguel Faustmann as "Congressman Richard Willie" and Joel Trinidad as his secretary "George Santos."
Other innocent and unwilling conspirators in the Congressman’s efforts to hide his misdemeanors from his wife (Joy Virata) are Ana Bitong as the would–be mistress, Arnel Carrion as her irate husband, Pheona Baranda as a nurse and George’s love interest, Robbie Guevara as the hotel manager, Niccolo Manahan as the waiter, Marisse Borlaza as the maid, and Raul Montesa as "The Body."
Opening night is on April 8, at 8 p.m. with cocktails at 7 p.m., at the Expo Exchange (located across the hall from Onstage).
"Whose Wife Is It Anyway" will run for three weekends until April 24 on Fridays and Saturdays, at 8 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays at 3:30 p.m.
Tickets are available at the REP office (Karrivin Plaza, 2316 Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati), all Ayala ticketrons and Ticketworld outlets.
