LIPA City — A brand new car as a hole-in-one prize, attractive giveaways and the fun and competition of a 36-hole tournament spice up Mount Malarayat’s annual member-guest tournament dubbed the Liberica Golf Invitational.
Limited slots are left with the organizers determined to limit the number of teams to only 150 for the event to be held at the Mounts Makulot, Malipunyo and Lobo nines on April 14-16.
Adel Chavez and guest Philip Lindog are the defending overall champions of the tournament supported by Citimotors, San Miguel Corp., United Auctioneers, Asia International Auctioneer, Turf Company, Master Sports and Batangas Governor Armand Sanchez.
"This promises to be the biggest Liberica event to date,’’ said organizing chairman Mark Mendoza. "Not only in terms of the field seeing action, but also in prizes and giveaways.’’
A registration fee of only
R6,000 per team will entitle each player to a personalized Liberica wedge worth 7,000 and the chance to shoot for a brand new car in a designated par-3 in each of the Malarayat’s three nines.
Malarayat, whose primary defense is its winds and small greens, is in its best shape as it prepares to host the coming Philippine Open on May 11-14.
The tournament hosted a field of 240 players last year and those still interested to sign up can call Melissa at tel. No. (043) 756-7007 for details.
Tournament format will call for each team to play a total of 36 holes using the Stableford method of scoring. Championship trophies in three other divisions (Classes A, B and C) will also be up for grabs.
Seventy-five teams will play on Thursday (Apr. 14), with the next 75 on Friday. The entire field tees off double shotgun style on all 27 holes of the complex in the final day on Saturday.
