Administration Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago urged the Supreme Court yesterday to abolish the Bar examinations as a prerequisite for practicing law in the Philippines because "passing the Bar examinations is a matter of chance and luck" and "is just one index of legal competence."


The complaints against the exorbitant toll fees at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) continue to mount as the petitions of various groups representing thousands of motorists for a public hearing on the toll fee increase effective February 10, 2005 remain unacted upon by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC) and the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).
