Bulacan has always been known as the nurturing place of noble heroes, of great men and women, the likes of Del Pilars, Balagtas, Tecson, Torres, Valenzuela, Ponce, Estrella, Sandico, Panganiban etc. Its name is inseparable from Philippine history being one of the eight provinces who rallied behind the Katipunan’s call for national uprising against the Spanish tyranny in the late 19th century. Its capital, Malolos, was the capital also of the First Philippine Republic and the seat of the Revolutionary Congress which drafted and ratified the first Constitution of the Philippines.
