O2 has announced the launched ofO2 Xda II mini, the latest addition to the company’s acclaimed X-range of premium mobile devices. It is the smallest PDA-phone in the market as well as the first PDA-phone to feature a 1.3 mega pixel camera and video recorder.
Packed with features and benefits that even the most discerning techies will appreciate, the O2 Xda II mini is a meltdown of all your wildest digital and gadget wish lists: a full-function PDA, a trendy mobile phone, a digital camera and an MP3 player. Housed in a stylish matt silver-white casing not much larger than a deck of cards, the O2 Xda II mini becomes your mobile office, digital entertainment centre and fashion accessory all rolled into one compact handheld.
Compared to the O2 Xda II, the O2 Xda II mini is about two-thirds its size, at two-thirds its price, with as much functionality. This improved PDA-phone runs on the faster Intel PXA 272 416MHz processor, and is powered by the second edition of the Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC Phone operating system. This means you can have popular tools and applications like Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Power Point and PDF viewers at your fingertips, and create, edit or view files and messages in landscape or portrait mode.
“It’s great to see O2 continue to bring innovation to mobile devices on the back of the success of the hugely popular O2 Xda II. The new O2 Xda II mini takes mobility to a new level with more power, better connectivity and the rich applications suite offered by Windows Mobile, all in one compact, stylish data device,” said Jason Lim, Asia Pacific Director, Microsoft Mobile & Embedded Devices Division. “We see this as another reinforcement of the Windows Mobile platform which provides ultimate flexibility and customization across a wide variety of form factors.”
For such a small device, the O2 Xda II mini also gives you ample space to store plenty of contacts, files and messages. But for those of you who are addicted to program and media downloads, there’s good news. Each O2 Xda II mini comes bundled with a free 256MB SD memory card, which you can slide into the MMC/SDIO slot to boost storage capacity.
If you want to touch base with someone, you have several options. You can call, SMS, MMS picture message, email or chat with them using MSN Messenger. You can keep up to date with everyone, and know what’s new with them no matter how near or far they live.”
“With the launch of the O2 Xda II mini, O2 has proven once again that we are an innovator in both technology and design, and that we put customer feedback at the heart of our product development,” said Mark Billington, CEO of O Asia. “Our customers in the Philippines tell us that they want a mobile device with compact and sleek styling packed with as much power and functionality as the rest of our X-range. The O2 Xda Ii mini provides greater choice and freedom to a wider range of customers with its sleek and minimalist style and size, on top of the media-rich PDA-phone functionalities one has come to expect from O2 and the Windows platform. We expect the new O2 Xda II mini will win the hearts of many new customers from the traditional mobile phone market, and ultimately stimulate an increase in market share for PDA-phone.”
