It was once said, "A genuinely spirited Catholic Christian never rests in serving people." This same spirit could have inspired the founder of the UNIVERSITY OF THE ASSUMPTION. On January 12, 1963, the then Bishop of San Fernando, the Most Rev. Emilio Cinense, D.D., assisted by Msgr. Pedro Puno, the Vicar General, concretized his dream of providing Christian education to the young men and women of Pampanga. Assumption Junior College, as it was known, was then housed on the third floor of the Assumpta Building near the convento in downtown San Fernando and was managed by Sr. Gunfrida Schneyer, OSB of the Community of Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing (Germany), also then the superior of Assumption Academy (now St. Scholastica’s Academy).

University of the Assumption (UA) celebrated its 42nd Foundation Week with the theme, "Unlimited Aspirations, Unified Actions." The weeklong celebration commenced with a procession from the Metropolitan Cathedral going to the University gymnasium, where administrators, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, and students joined in the meaningful activity. The celebration was followed with a Eucharistic celebration.

Dance—like any other form of arts—is a manifestation of emotion that requires utmost dedication, patience, and time. Regardless of his or her forte, the dancer—as a performing artist—never fails to astound people whenever he or she moves rhythmically in front of an expecting crowd. Like every little thing that evolves with the changing times, dancing—being one of the oldest disciplines of arts—slowly fragments itself into other forms. And one of the most popular forms that has emerged is the combination of cheerleading and dancing coined ‘cheerdancing.’
