CALAPE, Bohol — At least R5-million worth of properties vanished into smoke when fire hit the public market of this town at past 7 p.m. Tuesday night, Bohol Vice Gov. Julius Ceasar Herrera reported.
Herrera said the fire, which started on the ground floor of the five-year-old building, immediately spread to the second floor, eating almost half of the building.
Fire investigators were still determining the cause of the blaze, but the vice governor said one of the stall owners allegedly made an illegal electrical connection that could have resulted in faulty electrical wiring.
No one was reported hurt during the fire, said the Herrera, who is a native of the town. (Mars Mosqueda Jr.)
