Gurango Software invests $500,000, buys PASI

Gurango Software, a new local software company set up by its managing director and CEO Joey Gurango has acquired Performance Advantage Systems, Inc. (PASI) as part of its strategy to expand its business in Asia, the Middle East and Australia.

With an initial investment of $500,000, the acquisition of PASI would strengthen Gurango Software’s capabilities as value-added reseller of Microsoft Business Solutions by adding PASI’s Navision product expertise.

Gurango said the new software company will have the same go-to-market strategy with Microsoft. "We will engage the local Microsoft operation in each country and work with partners."

Aware of the difficult task of expanding to other countries in the region, Gurango said the company would complement Microsoft’s services and serve as a catalyst for success to its business and not to compete. "We will help organizations succeed in their business."

WebWorks OS, a software development company founded by Gurango would support Gurango Software in its operations.

Gurango is optimistic that the new software company would succeed in its business as a certified value-added reseller of Microsoft Business Solutions.

"If we have the right people and provide them with the right environment, they would be motivated to work hard and succeed. It’s all about people," said Gurango.

Gurango, who is also the CEO of WebWorks OS, will continue to head the merged companies. Rene Santos, president of PASI will become a director and general manager of Gurango Software, while Manny Tanseco will be the director for client services and Patty Bernardo as director for marketing.

Santos said the combined resources of PASI and Gurango Software would better serve the small and medium-sized target market, expand the business and offer more comprehensive solutions that the meet the specific needs of the customers.

Gurango Software will form three independent product teams with specialized expertise in the three MBS product lines. Initially, it will market these three brands separately.

"Each product line is designed to meet specific business objectives and it makes sense to have individual teams with significant product and industry expertise servicing our clients," said Gurango.

The new company will be the only MBS partner in the Philippines supporting all three MBS product lines Great Plains, Navision and Axapta.

Neil Catubig will head the Axapta team for the Axapta product line in the Philippines. As Gurango Software expands, it intends to open regional offices in Singapore, Dubai, and Sydney. It will also market and distribute third-party solutions from independent software vendors.

PASI started distributing Navision solutions in 2002 before the company was acquired by MBS. The conmpany has 22 workforce and supplies solutions and related support services to 90 percent of the Navision customer base in the country.

"Our initial target is the Asia Pacific and the Middle East regions. We hope to expand to the North American and European regions by 2007," said Gurango.

Gurango Software will provide support services such as technical support, training and certification, consulting, staff augmentation, localization of applications for countryspecific business logic, translation of applications user interface into required languages and customization of applications according to specific customer requirements.

Horizons International, a US-based developer of manufacturing and accounting software solutions has appointed Gurango Software to distribute its solutions in the Asia Pacific market.

The partnership was an offshoot of Horizons International’s business relationship with WebWorks OS that developed Horizons’ next generation manufacturing suite designed to run on Microsoft .NET framework.

Gurango has served as managing director of the MBS product development facility in the Philippines from 1999 to 2003. He used to be the regional director for products and services for the Asia Pacific region of MBS from 2001 to 2003 before establishing his own software engineering company, WebWorks OS.
