After a whole day of fun, participants in the traditional Family Day of Makati will be treated to a free mini-concert featuring Kitchie Nadal, Nyoy Volante and the Manos, and Free Verse band at 7p.m. today at the University of Makati (UMAK) grounds.
Family Day, which is part of Makati’s 335
th Foundation Day festivities, will transform the UMAK into an amusement center, with fun games and contests and exciting prizes in store for the entire family to enjoy.
The games, which include a videoke challenge among contestants from various barangays, a dance contest, and "Palarong Pinoy," are open to all Makati residents.
The videoke challenge will be open to contestants from 12 to 25 years old, while the dance contest will be open to groups of six to eight members aged between 12 and 21 years. Each dance group may either be all-female, or a combination of male and female members. Participants in both competitions must be endorsed by their barangay chairmen.
The winners in the videoke and dance contests will take home trophies and cash prizes of P10,000, first prize; P7,000 second prize; and P5,000, third prize. The barangays represented by the winners will also receive cash prizes equivalent to the prize won by their representatives.
Meanwhile, games for all ages have been lined up for the "Palarong Pinoy," with corresponding prizes for the winners.
Winners in the games and raffle promos will take home prizes from San Miguel Corporation, SMART, PLDT, and other major partners in the month-long celebration.
Another sure-fire attraction for participants is a "tiangge" to be set up for the day, where shoppers can avail themselves of great bargains on clothes, household items and food products.
The 335th "Araw ng Makati" is presented by Mayor Jejomar C. Binay, the city government of Makati, and the Makati Festivals Foundation, Inc. in collaboration with Commercial Estates Association, Ayala Center, Rockwell Center, Power Plant Mall, Manila Bulletin, GMA 7, Yuchengco Group of Companies, Philippine Airlines, PLDT/Smart and San Miguel Corporation.
