I am sure that by now you are sick of hearing about Apple’s awesome new operating system, Mac OS X 10.4, or Tiger as it is more commonly known. Apple released it last April 29 and just like any other new product from Apple, Mac addicts queued up at the Apple stores to get a hold of the new product. Apple has this knack of giving away stuff during product launches and this time, they gave away lots of iTune and Powerbook gift certificates! I just wish that there was an Apple owned store here in Manila. The Apple Centers that you see here are not owned by Apple.

Having the device is one thing but having the multimedia equipment to handle is another. But I can dream, can’t I?

Heat is the most common reason why computers encounter downtime. Usually, too much heat is caused by failure of fans within the computer chassis and blockage of air ducts. Mandrake (now Mandriva), Suse, Red Hat, Slackware, Ubuntu, Bayanihan, Debian, Gentoo and the list goes on. It is like getting two for the price of one. Linux is probably the only operating system (OS) in the world with so many names or, as we call it, distributions. Although they all have the same kernel (geek term for the internal engine of the OS), what makes each one different is the applications that are bundled with it.

GP Batteries International Limited recently launched the GP 2300 Series AA Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries.

The Hypercom® ICE™ 4000 (SmartICE™) is a lightweight, mobile Internet-enabled POS terminal with a 3 1 /4 " LCD touch-screen display.

Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications has announced the launch of a collection of exclusive Star Wars wallpapers and ringtones that will be preloaded in selected Sony Ericsson mobile phones sold in 12 Asia Pacific countries. This is in conjunction with the much-anticipated world premiere of the movie Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith on May 19, 2005.

Although she started blogging only in 2003, Connie Veneracion - more widely known by her nom de plume The Sassy Lawyer- is undoubtedly the country’s reigning blog queen.

(Sharic’s Note: This week, I present to you a piece from Paul Mendoza aka GM Battlechaser as he contributes an interesting series about one of the more famous jobs in pRO right now – the Monk! Take it away, GM Battlechaser!)

One thing I enjoy most everytime I am with my fellow journalists is the exchange of intelligent ideas about certain issues surrounding the I.T. industry. Some of us can stay quiet the whole night listening, while some will be very intense in defending his/her views about a certain topic. In an informal gathering I had a few weeks ago with my journalist friends, the topic about digital piracy (video, audio, computer software) is the focus of our discussion. How can this be stopped? Who is at fault in the proliferation of these materials? And is the government and the industry doing the right thing in putting an end to this problem?

Let me start with what a bookmark-worthy blog is. What the heck does that mean? Of course we all know about bookmarking. It simply means adding a site to our “favorites” for easy access in the future. Put another way, we want easy access in the future because we intend to visit that site often if not regularly. So we come to the substance of a bookmark-worthy blog. What is it about a blog that makes people come back to it again and again?
