Why Willie Revillame is one happy, lucky man!

Despite the case filed against him by a colleague in the entertainment press (for which we believe we shouldn’t judge him harshly as yet but let’s just leave it all to the court to settle), Willie Revillame is a happy man these days, and not only because his ABS-CBN game show "Wowowee" has become very successful, making him feel that he was heartily and warmly welcomed by televiewers after a long absence from the major network. But Willie will be the happiest man in the world on June 7, when he claims, for the second time around, Floraliz B. Almoro as his lawful wife. The two were first married earlier this year by Lipa City Mayor Vilma Santos.

On June 7, Willie and Liz will seal their love and vow to love each other forever once more at the altar of Santuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati City.

Witnesses (or godparents) to their exchanging of vows include Who’s Who in the entertainment industry and other prominent personalities: Vice President Noli de Castro and wife Arlene, Senator Richard Gordon, First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, Eugenio Lopez III, Charo Santos-Concio, Gov. Chavit Singson, Senator Bong Revilla, Dolphy, Vilma Santos, Sharon Cuneta, Gloria Romero, Eddie Garcia, Daisy Romualdez, Donna Villa, Phillip Salvador, Korina Sanchez, Baby Arenas, Al Quinn, Rodolfo Puno, Johnny Manahan, Nova Villa, Douglas Quijano, Amparito Llhuellier, Marissa Andaya and many others.

Best men are Aga Muhlach, Cesar Montano, Richard Gomez, Randy Santiago, John Estrada, and Edgar Mortiz. Bridesmaids are Ma. Lourdes Romero, Meryl Soriano Revillame, Carina David, Malanie Blanco, Sheryl Ann Escueta and Sheryliz B. Almoro.

Cord sponsors will be Richard Gomez and Gretchen Barretto; veil sponsors, John Estrada and Kris Aquino; candle sponsors, Rico Gutierrez and Maybeline Te.

Flower girl is Angelina Isabel Almoro David; while Bible bearer is Donato Antonio Pangilinan.

Dinner reception will be at The Tent of The Fort.

The bride, by the way, will wear a wedding gown designed by Paul Cabral who’s also doing the whole wedding entourage, including Daisy’s and Clavel’s gowns. Liz, now on the family way, is the daughter of NBI executive director Roy Almoro, and businesswoman Clavel Bendana who produced the "Chavit Singson Story."

To Willie and Liz, our congratulations and best wishes!

More stars to be summoned for failure to pay their taxes

From the entertainment industry aamong the highest tax payers in 2003, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) confirmed, was Judy Ann Santos, who is one of the movie stars summoned by the Department of Justice (DoJ) to explain why they failed to pay taxes for other income they earned. "But kulang pa," was the BIR’s claim. Apparently, the BIR and the DoJ are basing their estimates on billboards of the stars plastered in the highways. But not all of these endorsements, the stars would say, are money-makers. Some are made out of friendship, or exchange deals.

This week, more movie/TV personalities (among them Boy Abunda, we were told) will be served summons by the DoJ for their failure to pay the necessary taxes on their earnings. Even Manny Pacquiao, the man who brought honor to the country in the field of boxing, who was given a hero’s welcome when he came home and honored in Malacanang by no less than President Gloria M. Arroyo, and who was reportedly "cheated" out of several million dollars more by his former manager in the US (and this is why he went to the States to file charges against him), will be "investigated."

Well, because he should be a good role model for everyone, Manny Pacquiao will have to pay his taxes, was their rationale.

The first actor investigated for failure to pay his taxes was Richard Gomez. Regine Velasquez was second. Third was Judy Ann Santos.

For the year 2002-2003, Sharon Cuneta was the highest tax-payer among the movie stars, the BIR disclosed. For 2003, coming next after the megastar were Robin Padilla, Dolphy, Aga Muhlach, couple Rudy Fernandez and Lorna Tolentino, Kris Aquino, Randy Santiago, Ai Ai delas Alas, the late Fernando Poe, Jr., Judy Ann Santos and Claudine Barretto.

‘Hilarious Giselle’

We’ve always known Giselle Sanchez to be a hilarious and comic talent (in a sexy way, we should add!) but can you imagine her calling you up everyday to tell you the "joke of the day?" Well, this should be exciting and fun, and that’s exactly the thing she’ll be doing these days.

This is the latest service that Smart Starcaller will be giving all Smart and Talk ’n Text subscribers. By typing the word "jokes" of "Giselle" and sending it to 3262 and Giselle will call you up for her "joke of the day."

But of course, nothing beats seeing the UP magna cum laude comedienne do her smart antics on stage in person. So catch her tonight at 10 at the Boysie’s Concert Bar at 2113 M. H. Del Pilar in Malate. Giselle is not only a stand-up comedienne, she can also belt Beyonce songs.

"Although I’m young, I think I’m an old soul," Giselle said. "Because I like singing Arethat Franklin and Donna Summer Songs and I even dig Paul Anka and Neil Sedaka that I usually include their songs in my repertoire. It also balances my audience’s song preferences and that I get to cater to intelligent audiences as old as 70 and the hippest audiences as young as 14! Music and comedy are universal. They are for the young who want to learn more about the old, and the old who want to feel young — such is the irony of life!" Giselle laughed her signature laughter, something akin to the late Elvira Manahan’s type of laughter, only louder and more on the crass side. But the funny lady doesn’t care which is the reason why she went into comedy in the first place, she said.

"My mom wanted me to be a beauty queen! Can’t life be more horrible than that? Imagine holding my laughter after a funny joke for the sake of etiquette and class! I’d end up farting the rest of the night. So for all you jaded people out there, I dare you to watch my show and not laugh for the rest of the night. Let’s see how long you can hold your wind!" Giselle added.

"Hilarious Giselle" is also presented by Seair, the premiere domestic airline which will be giving away a round-trip ticket to either Boracay, Palawan, Busuanga or Siargao, depending on the winner’s choice of destination. Oracare Mouthrinse, Smart Starcaller and Styletto Shoes are also co-presenting "Hailarious Giselle."
