Recently, the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (BECTA) conducted a study “Open Source Software in Schools: A Study of the Spectrum of Use and Related ICT Infrastructure Costs” [http://www.becta.org.uk] indicating that “the use of Open Source Software (OSS) can offer a cost-effective alternative to proprietary software.” This study, however, is nothing new to me. I have used OSS in UP for a long time already.
