GADGETS TO OGLE AT FROM HP

In a world where technology is changing by the minute, leading product innovator HP proved that it is a cut above the rest when it successfully held its “Make It Real! Make It HP” event recently at the Atrium of the Shangri-La Mall in EDSA, Mandaluyong City.

Consumers and gadget enthusiasts were given a preview of HP’s latest products in digital photography and digital entertainment  including its top-of-the-line printers, handhelds, digicams and computers. HP Philippines led by its general manager for Imaging and Personal Systems Group Bernadette Nacario, pulled out all the stops to keep the crowds coming through live performances by today’s in-demand artists, a technology-focused fashion show led by Borgy Manotoc and the iPAQ Trade In, Trade Up Promo. Customers were asked to bring in their working or non-working PDAs and GSM mobiles to get P10,000 off on the regular price of the iPAQ 6365 and other exciting iPAQ models.

Technews dropped by HP’s much-awaited IT consumer event and here’s what we saw:

The HP Media Centre PC – This one might as well be called the “King of PCs” for integrating all that people need from their home/PC entertainment. This all-in-one device enables users to watch, record, play back, pause and rewind live TV programs; slot and store recorded TV programs on the optional easy-to-use HP Personal Media Drive in the integrated Media Drive bay; dock a camera and download photos, or store peripherals and accessories with a convenient storage area on top of the chassis; perform system back-ups, store music and photos on the optional HP Personal Media Drive; and easily organize entire music collections. Equipped with the newest Intel 915 chipset with a built-in 802.11 b/g wireless solution (WLAN), users can create an instant wireless network in their home with the PC. Impressive eh? This one, we believe, does not come with a cheap price tag of course.

Lightscribe technology – Developed and patented by HP, this is a direct disc labeling technology now embedded and enabled in HP PCs. Using the same  laser that burns data in the disc drives, users need only to burn the data, flip the disc over, reinsert it into the drive, and burn a precise, brilliantly embossed label. No need for a printer, ink cartridges, permanent marker or adhesive labeling.

HP Pavilion dv1000 Series Entertainment Notebook – Equipped with a 14-inch display and Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, HP’s latest notebook features the QuickPlay innovation which conveniently allows consumers to watch DVDs or listen to music without the need to boot up the notebook’s hard drive.

HP iPAQ h6365 – This multi-capable handheld lets users roam freely with its three way wireless (GSM/GPRS, WiFi and Bluetooth) and quadband capabilities.

HP Photosmart 8450 Photo Printer  - Equipped with an eight-ink color printing system, this enables one to produce stunning color and black and white prints with up to 72 million different color and grayscale combinations. This network-enabled photo printer also features a 2.5 inch color image display, easy-to-access front-panel editing buttons, digicam video printing and panorama format printing.

HP Photosmart R607 Digital Camera – this 4.1 megapixel digital camera enables even amateur photographers to take excellent pictures. It is stylishly small and is equipped with neat functionalities like adaptive lighting and in-camera red-eye removal.

HP Scanjet 4670vp – A scanner that combines the best of scanning technology with cutting-edge product design, allowing users to scan almost anything in any position with amazing accuracy. The included Transparent Materials Adapter (TMA) effortlessly converts 35mm slides and negatives into files that can be saved, printed and shared online.
