TITA HELEN. I can’t quite recall when I first met Helena Z. Benitez. It must have been in the 1960s when I was a rookie reporter writing for The Page For The Young At Heart of the Manila Bulletin. Even then, my memories of her remain foggy because even that time, Tita Helen was an indomitable figure, being president of the Philippine Women’s University on Taft Avenue, Manila, which was part of my beat.
