The EASTERN SAMAR STATE UNIVERSITY was first established as the Eastern Samar National Regional School (ESNRAS) on February 14, 1960 through Republic Act 2424 authored by the late former Congressman Felipe Abrigo. Its pioneer classes started with 120 students holding sessions in a rented building owned by the late former Mayor Teodoro Cidro in Songco, Borongan, Eastern Samar.
The Eastern Samar State University takes pride in being a training ground of leaders, professionals, artists, athletes and other talents. The students’ excellence in the co-curricular realm is widely acclaimed. Potentials of the students are honed to perfection by various activities which invariably elevate them into inter-school competitions.
Knowledge frees the mind. Coupled with formal education, knowledge gives the ordinary man strength while it gives the exceptional power. Outside the confines of the common conception, there is much more to knowledge. It is capable of transforming different kinds of freedom into something productive while creating bonds that can withstand the test of times.
