QuickCam Fusion: 1.3 Megapixel webcam

Logitech has announced the introduction of the company's latest addition to its arsenal of web cameras, the QuickCam Fusion. Boasting a 1.3 Megapixel resolution and a host of advanced functionality, the camera includes Logitech's RightLight and RightSound technology as well as an integrated microphone and software to transfer facial expressions to animated 3D characters.

The first webcam from Logitech to come bundled with the company's Video Effects software, also announced today, users of the Fusion will be able to transfer facial expressions to 3D avatars and further cutsomize these. Compatible with MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger, the software replaces the standard video feed with one displaying the computer generated character.

Also present in the QuickCam Fusion is Logitech's RightLight technology, which is a system of hardware and firmware technologies that aims to improve the image quality of a webcam in a wide variety of lighting conditions, particularly in low light. Similarly, Logitech RightSound technology applies software algorithms to the integrated microphone of the Fusion and its bundled stereo headset in a bid to minimize echo and feedback.

The Logitech QuickCam Fusion webcam also features a wide-field lens which provides 78 degrees of visibility, as well as support for USB 2.0.
