After her 3-day trip in the United States, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said she is ready to resume work with much energy and will immediately take actions on the country’s exponentially pressing domestic problems. She said she will continue to intensify efforts to collect taxes, fight graft and corruption, eliminate government wastage, and ensure that the poor are shielded against unfair price increases.

Congress will resume its session today after a week of recess following a lengthy deliberation on the impeachment cases against President Arroyo at the House of Representatives, with Senate President Franklin Drilon and House Speaker Jose de Venecia banging the gavel to signal the start of legislative work.
