Especially transported from Europe, via Poland, by Euromode’s Marilou Koa to grace the recent Escada gala at the Westin Philippine Plaza as part of the celebration of the German Month, the twentysomething model was a natural choice to carry Escada’s more eyecatching creations.

SCADA’S "Pretty Lady" collection retains all the austere elegance and crisp tailoring that this German label is known for, but with the added romance of a Scottish Highlands inspiration. Its Fall-Winter 2005 collection was presented during the recent Mercedes Benz Fashion Show at the Westin Philippine Plaza Harbor Tent.

VITAMIN E long has been known for its healing properties and its ability to protect skin from free radicals, which can lead to skin cell breakdown that results in dryness, itchiness and general unhealthiness to your skin. Vitamin E can be ingested for other health benefits or the capsules can actually be broken and rubbed directly to the skin, to hasten the healing of burns or acne. Vitamin E is good for long-term use as it acts as protection against premature ageing if used consistently.

I’M liking the feeling, of being sucked into the irresistible ‘80s vortex. I don’t think one article is enough to cover all memories of my ‘80s childhood. And, I have to point out, that there are still a few of that era’s key looks worth mentioning, as they too, are back with a vengeance, as directional influences for Spring-Summer 2006. Along with the skinny jeans, the loud and often cringe-inducing color of that decade is resurrected to give modern pieces highlights and a new vibe. Neons! Bright pinks, electric blues, shocking yellows and glowing greens give a refreshing ‘80s glam-pop feel to the current contemporary design.

KANEBO is a top-of-the-line skincare and makeup brand which suffers from a grievous public disconnect. Without a strong brand identity like that of, say, Shiseido, it is often associated with low-sounding drugstore lines deemed too tacky for the kikay kit. On the other hand, consumers alive to its renown as performance makeup and skincare are daunted by its "freakishly expensive" price points. Call it the uncheap and unchic conundrum, the beauty marketing equivalent of a double whammy.

OH, poor Ray Bradbury! The man’s a genius, and his work has amazed generations already. In the visual medium, it’s been adapted successfully to comic books and, of course, many memorable Twilight Zone episodes. And with the new technology and slew of new sci-fi films, most remarkably those based on work by the likes of Philip K. Dick, it would seem the perfect time for movie adaptations of Bradbury’s work to come out.
