The demand for under-bone motorcycles has become undeniably phenomenal during the recent years. And with skyrocketing prices of fuel, the under-bone segment will remain the hottest transport system in town.
Norkis Trading Corporation unleashed its new Yamaha X-1 110cc which is expected to rule the under-bone class with its sporty designed aerodynamic body. It was a big celebration for the X-1 at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City that were attended by movie celebrity-riders like Monsour del Rosario and LJ Moreno. Both are known Yamaha riders.
Gaspar "Boy" Albos, Norkis Trading vice president for marketing, is optimistic that the Yamaha X-1 will capture the interests of motorcycle fans for its sportiness and practicality.
Based on the mechanical platform of the top selling Yamaha Crypton Z, the new Yamaha X-1 is powered by a four stroke-air cooled 110-3 cc single overhead cam and DC-CDI ignition system that kicks 9ps/6.6kW at 8,000 rpm.
The Yamaha Crypton Z was a standout when it made its debut race at the Yamaha ASEAN Cup series where it proved its characteristics as a racing breed.
Light weight and nimble, motorcycle enthusiasts will see the Yamaha X-1 as a "power sprinter" that can make other under-bones cry in disgust.
The Yamaha X-1’s engine is matched with a four-speed semi-automatic double clutch constant mesh rotary gear transmission which very rider friendly.
The X-1 is chain driven and runs on 70/9017 front tire and a wider 80-90-17 rear rubbers for better road stability. For its stopping power, the Yamaha X-1 is equipped with a front two-piston disc brake and rear drum brake system.
Among the X-1’s strength is its "killer appeal." Its slightly lowered front fork stance and sporty designed front fenders is very reminiscent of the Yamaha R-1 super sport race bike.
The new headlamp combination is also identical to the Yamaha R-1.
Under-bones are known for their inclination to be dressed up units with the availability of almost unlimited supply of after-market accessories. Just like the Yamaha Crypton series that made its way through the scooter alleys of Caloocan and Marikina, the Yamaha X-1 will likewise rock the under-bone circle with the wide variety of accessories that can be attached to it – both for racing purposes or just mere personal preference.
Accessories may include magwheels, tune pipe systems, ABS brake systems, sport suspension and even carbon fiber finish flairings.
During the launch, Yoyong Buncio of YRS showcased a spruced up Yamaha X-1 with fitted Yamaha R-1 parts. The two-tone gray/black colored Yamaha X-1 stunned the guests with its huge size front brake discs and adjustable rear shock absorbers. It also has a center-mounted rear exhaust design laced with carbon fiber design side panels.
An instant crowd drawer, all you will need is a replica helmet of Valentino Rossi to impress someone that your riding a YZR-M1 Moto-GP race bike, similar to that of the world bike champion.
