RP Compak shoots in Taytay

HILLTOP TAYTAY, Rizal – Sporting Clays Association of the Philippines (SCAP) will hold its 1st Philippine National Compak Sporting Championships on Oct. 14, 15 and 16 at the Team GomaSports shooting range here.

According to SCAP president Richard Gomez, clay shooting is the fastest growing shooting sport in the world today. "It is now getting to be very popular in the country," he says.

The three-day competition is expected to be the biggest gathering of local shotgun shooters in one single event.

Each competitor will be shooting 150 clay targets. Gomez wants the coming event to be like a "Goma Cup" of shotgun shooting.

Expected to vie in the tourney supported by Rustan’s Essences, Rudy Project, Swatch, iPod, Caterpillar, Chikka.com and Bench are shooters from Pampanga, Bulacan, Cebu and Manila, including Olympic, Asian and Southeast Asian games veterans, who have been practicing regularly at the Team GomaSport range, which is only 12 kilometers away from EDSA and Ortigas Ave.

The Grand winner earn the title of national champion. Competition will also be conducted in different classes, including A, B, C, veterans, ladies and 20 gauge.

All participants will receive gift packs upon registration while winners will get trophies and premium prizes. Early registrants will get a R300 discount and special practice rates at the range.
