I’ve been living in Sydney, Australia for the past two years now and am an Australian citizen. I try to come back to the Philippines to visit my parents and sister twice a year. Each trip home, I do make the most of visiting a Shakey’s restaurant as much as I can! In fact, since I flew in, I can’t even count how many times I’ve eaten at Shakey’s.
It all started in 1981 when we moved to Baguio City. I was a big fan of pizza, so when we first moved to the City of Pines, I was craving for pizza. We drove around and saw a Shakey’s pizza parlor by the Sky World building on Session Road. From then on, I was hooked! My parents got a flat at the Sky World Condo and all I had to do was go downstairs and have my favorite food. I’d be there every day and every visit would equate to, at least, a Bunch of Lunch!
There are no Shakey’s restaurants in Sydney, and I missed its food so much that when I came across the Shakey’s friendster site on one of my friends’ page, I was like "sign me up!" And because of the testimonial that I wrote, I won an all-you-can-eat treat at Shakey’s. I almost fell off my chair when I read the message that I won. Thanks to Evelyn and Gene of Shakey’s, I was able to enjoy my ultimate pizza variant (which you can order at Shakey’s): my very own toppings of pepperoni, ground beef, anchovies, and mushrooms. I’ve recently grown fond of the Pepperoni Crunch, too.
Now, I go back home to Sydney filled with dreams of thin crust pizzas, mojos, chicken, and the ever-familiar logo that made me a Shakey’s fan since 1981 – hey, that’s going on twenty-six years now.
